At a crossroads in crosswoods, I was told upon the phone
That this state of living could not last, yet all my fears have come to pass
I promised to try reading more and wander a little less
Yet the papers end up on the floor, my head upon the desk

Sentiments seem so certain when a muddled mind is murky
With my toes upon the dampened green, it puts all of my thoughts at ease
Though my fears have come to pass, I'm reminded this living cannot last
When the lights switch off above the streets, and I look to illuminated east
